I think you are correct. I think the ramps should be 10 lanes a piece. I think the main road should be 20 lanes in each direction. This would be a total of about 60 lanes wide. This should cost a billion dollars or more to do. None of this would help. People know what roads go where and they don't care and wait until the last minute to weave. I guess VDOT could create a lane 2 miles back from the current ramp. This would just move the problem two miles back. Maybe we should figure out a way to get cars off the road. Maybe carpool, use mass transit, buy houses closer to our work locations. These would be cheap ideas that would work. Also make sure you are aware you might remember VDOT doesn't have any money to do the projects. Oh wait they can put tolls up on these roads to raise the money. I think ten dollars each time you go through this interchange will create fewer cars on the interstate and more on the City streets but that would fix this problem. Also a quick reminder this problem would have to fixed by VDOT and they don't monitor this site. You might want to call their number directly to tell them your concerns. Call VDOT and get a work order to post a number here so everyone can follow this request.
