Description

There's a new speed camera on 395, shortly after commuters cross the Southwest Freeway Bridge and before the U.S. Capitol/C street exit. Apparently, the speed on this heavily trafficked area is only 40 mph. It doesn't seem fair that the speed reduces from 55 plus on the bridge to 40 mph in this area. When I drove on 395 South last evening, I noticed about 4-5 cars receive a ticket within the 30 seconds I passed the area where the speed camer is located on the northbound side. It will certainly bring in a ton of money for DC/DDOT because there's little signage indicating the speed decrease, but seems absolutely ridiculous and punitive. I double-checked and there is a TINY sign that says "photo enforced" under the speed limit sign, but that's very new.
