Since there seems an overwhelming amount of this going on (today being no different). Had to post a video taking our alley of a person riding an off vehicle, speeding back and forth.

The ATV's and small motorcycles untagged are very common speeding through the neighborhoods. I just hope something is done before someone gets hurt or killed.

Dominic - I totally agree. What happens when a resident simply going about their business of backing out of a parking spot or turning onto a street with proper signals on gets T boned by an ATV/Motorcycle? Then what? Well my guess is it will be front page news, another black eye to the City and then the City will get sued (meaning WE the TAXPAYERS) because they didn't stop this from happening in the first place. I mean this is the definition of insanity. I understand the CPD has a hard job but it's simply not working. We need to go in another direction.

Police can't usually catch motorcycles & ATVs (sometimes they do). If we reinstated the bike patrols or initiated a motorcycle patrol it might pay off in more arrests.
Keep in mind that at one time there was a regular pick up and deliver system to distribute drugs around Coatesville. There might be a way to hit up the DEA or Homeland Security for the cash for motorcycles. Although if Rawlings is successful in reducing the PD by ten officers, forget about it.

Good catch with the cam! With a clear shot of someone's face posters/flyers could be made, but that might lead to this youngster's street cred more than apprehension or shame. Can school record photos be used?

Matt,
I realize it is hard for CPD to be everywhere but the ATV & Mini Bikes are very common and will be more so once the weather changes and summer is here. I am worried that when this tradgedy occurs it will be an innocent person on the receiving end, especially with all the small children who play in the alleys and streets. James is also correct about reducing the police department. If anything it should be increased. Our police chief however is working to get a better camera system in the city which would certainly help in alot of ways. The many attempts over the past 10 years to get Coatesville straight with the city council platform is not working. I would like to see Coatesville go back to a mayoral system with a strict check and balance system.

Incident hasn't happened since however if it does I'll make sure to get a real good close up of the riders face so I can forward to the CPD like I did the first time.
