You just had half of your entry replaced on the city's dime. If your that concerned about appearance then fork over the cash to finish the rest.

That's funny. I didn't ask for half the entry to be repaired. Had they asked to do this the way they did, I would have said no. You make it sound like I had some say in the matter. And since the apron is City owned, like the sidewalk, maybe the City could do the right thing and fix it correctly.

During resurfacing of streets, the city typically only replaces that portion of a drive approach that is in poor condition and where the adjacent gutter pan is being replaced. Concrete that is in good condition, regardless of age, is not replaced.

Just because the color and texture does not match, does not mean it is not functional. .. I agree, if you want it replaced, pay for it your self.

That's part of the point: it was "functional" before. But instead of doing it right, they chose to leave one side looking like 50 year old, crumbling concrete and the other side is new. There is such a thing as aesthetics and for very little cost and effort, the City could have at least made it consistent across the driveway apron, especially for someone who's family has lived in that house for 50 years. Every person who has seen it has said, "they're not leaving it like that, are they?" Or "that's really bad." Feel free to stop by and look at it for yourself; the picture doesn't do it justice for how bad it really looks. And for me to pay to replace the City-owned concrete isn't something I'd like to do. It should have either been left as it was or done correctly.
