Description

I was on my morning bike commute when a large wasp cut into my lane and stung me the instant we collided. I never understood why artists frequently draw bees and hornets with their stingers pointing in the direction of flight--until today. I was literally in pain at the same time the wasp bumped my shoulder. This happened on the wooden bridge just to the west of State Street. I suspect there could be a nest, but considering I bike this route twice daily and haven't had an issue until this morning, it may be a fluke. However, I know that at least one other person has reported problems with hornets in this vicinity as of last week. A picture of the sting taken approximately 20 minutes after the incident is attached.
