General assistance.....in order for a person in Rockland to receive assistance with there rent,..the building of said tenant has to be inspected by the code office and fire department..nothing here is grandfathered anymore...stairways, hall widths, windows, sink drains must be brought up to there standards before assistance is given. Landlords are refusing to accept City assistance because of this, the last thing they need is to spend several thousands to help a tenant pay there rent..Once the fire dept gets into a building here there is no stopping them...even when the State fire inspecter approves something Rockland does not ....
