Geneva has SO many of these properties that our DPW could never keep up with them. The crews hired to do mowing are working full time going from cemetery to cemetery, and going from park to park. Budgets constraints won't allow for more hires and putting leins on the properties doesn't work well either. There are no easy answers to these type of problems. Maybe we can find a nearby neighbor who will keep the grass cut and the snow shoveled in winter for a brake on THEIR taxes. Or, maybe the city can buy a couple of goats or other animals that feed on grass and drop them off at these properties. Now that would be an attention getter.
I seen this happen many times, The home owner probably has a contractor provide lawn service. They will wait until they saved about 8 to 10 trips and promise some poor sole if he mows it down he can have the job for the rest of the season. lol I would rather have the tall grass then what the goats leave behind.
