This is a Briarhurst West Neighborhood Association issue. The bushes are there for safety to prevent walkers from falling over onto the very steep embankment. Repair/maintenance is not simply trimming back the bushes. It is considered a major repair and is on the priority list. In the meantime we ask for your patience!
I understand the safety concern. However, a person would have to walk through the bush more than 6 feet to “fall” at the closest point which alone would be a feat. Adding the fact that there is a fence, would make it all that more impressive.
So it would appear that it is simply trimming back the bushes is all the repair/maintenance needed.
My apologies - I should have been more explicit. The bushes were planted for safety reasons as previously stated. Now they are overgrown and trimming is a short term fix. The bushes need to be removed and most likely, the railing replaced. Some of the trunks are 6" in diameter and yews are as hard as iron! Our intent is to permanently fix this so it doesn't require constant maintenance. We love to have people volunteer to assist in maintenance. Please send me an email with contact information at katherine.siefken@yahoo.com so we can discuss possibilities. Thanks!
Street Maintenance staff will inspect this location, and if any issue is found within the right-of-way, a letter will be sent to the property owner for removal. If you have any questions or concerns please call Street Maintenance at (402) 441-7701. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I would be happy to do so free of charge btw!
