Description
A cycling accident.
I was riding north on the trail this morning and encountered another cyclist who had crashed and was awaiting an ambulance. He had been riding southbound across the intersection where centennial trail crosses westborough/chestnut.
He evidently hit the curb and went down. I have almost crashed here several times too. The design is flawed and the intersection is not marked well. As one rides south the bike path takes you directly into the curb which is very difficult to see especially at some times of day or year when the sun angle is very steep. It is counter-intuitive. The yellow bumped curbs (another very slippery and dangerous ADA feature) are not on the direct path for cyclists or pedestrians. This rider could not stand; he might have broken a hip.
I suggest an immediate temporary fix (better markings/signage) to reduce the chances of someone else going down and a better more permanent solution.
