Thank you for reporting this issue. EPD's parking enforcement has had prior reports of this problem and have been patrolling the area, and citing vehicles who block the bike lane consistently. They will continue until the issue is resolved.
Can confirm that this issue keeps coming back. Sometimes the road is clear for one or two days but people resume parking there a day or two later. They park next to this landscaped area next to the curb in the narrowest part of that particular stretch of street, forcing cyclists into the roadway, where they can be hit by cars they may or may not see or be able to react fast enough to avoid. People who park here don’t care about cyclists’ safety and I hope frequent ticketing will help and will save a cyclist’s life. Can NO PARKING signs or red striping be added to help get the message across?
The white truck has stopped parking there, but others continue to do so. I’ve seen bicyclists (today) having to veer into traffic to get around the cars parked in the bike lane. I emailed Mayor Bauters about this and I think he stopped by and chatted with the owner. RED CURB and NO PARKING signs might help.
