Please let me know the status of this issue. I believe it is a serious safety issue as daily I see women having to redirect their baby strollers into the street in order to get around this blockage caused by the hydrant and the three large posts surrounding it. If there are cars parked at the curb, the woman must then place herself and her child at great danger by also going around the parked cars and thus into the traffic lane. I've seen lower profile hydrants that would be more appropriate and there is no reason to have the three large posts embedded in the sidewalk.

Thank you for following up on this issue. The HOA Board for the Sea View Villas (the condo building where this hydrant is located) will be interested in hearing the progress report.

I left a voicemail message at Franks number but the recording ended before I had a chance to leave my phone number. Please send me an update if possible or call me at 310.372.4702. I would like to have information to share with our HOA at our upcoming board meeting. Our homeowners are interested in having this issue resolved as it causes problems for pedestrian passage. Also, I might add that there are no handicap curbs at the corners of Porter Lane at Gould Ave. and this stretch of sidewalk is completely outdated and should be fixed soon. I have personally seen pedestrians - especially mothers pushing strollers and kids walking in groups go into the street to pass this hydrant that is surrounded by 3 posts - it's crazy that this is creating such a blockage to pedestrian passage. For those watching this issue, the City of Hermosa Beach Public Works Planning Committee has noted this issue and will be incorporating a solution to remedy the fire-hydrant-blocked sidewalk into upcoming improvements planned for Gould Ave this year.

I'm closing this issue because it will be resolved during 2012 as part of planned upgrades to Gould Ave.
