Description
The three way stop here completely frivolous. I have traveled through there daily for years and only once have seen anyone turning on Jones Rd.
I understand that it is there because people who live in the city along the stretch of Gick Rd. have complained about speeders for years, but the point is stop signs are not meant to control speeders. Moreover, from what I have witnessed (again daily) it has not curtailed speeding southbound to 50 or north into Wilton one bit.
Honestly, someone turning onto Jones Rd. is now going to get hit by someone running the frivolous stop sign because no one takes it seriously.

The stop sign is frivolous and creates added noise and emmission pollution from all the stopping and starting. Big waste of gas. Stop signs are not designed to enforce speed limits; police and other forms of surveillance are. If people are saying that police are catching people rolling through this stop sign and that is a cash cow for local law enforcement, then that tells me local law enforcement is already there and can just as easily catch speeders on that stretch of road after the sign is taken down. So no need for the sign.
Regarding traffic in and out of Exit 15 plaza: Traffic on that section of Jones Road is not so heavy as to make it hard to safely enter and exit the plaza road. No one has ideal conditions pulling out on to main arteries. Exit 15 Plaza is by no means unique, and in fact, easier than most.
For the 80 residents who live there: 1st off, I don't count 80 houses on that short stretch of road, and those are the only home owners who should have a true vested interest, not the ones in the adjacent neighborhoods. Also, then why aren't the residents of Grand Ave in Saratoga near the High School getting stop signs up and down their road? Traffic on Grand Ave leaving town is far heavier than on Gick, and speeders are more frequent and speed much more agressively than they do on Gick. So let's get rid of the stop sign on Gick, please.

Well let's see. There are 80 residents that live in that area, so even though you don't see 80 houses, there are many in that development affected by traffic traveling north and south on Gick and Jones Rd.
Secondly, people have proven over the years they don't care about the posted 30 mph speed limit. The ones complaining now are the ones I'm talking about. You know who you are.
Third, school buses enter and exit Jordan N. and Jordan S. The stop sign aids in helping them exit those roads.
Fourth, that stop sign will help recude accidents resulting from speeding (which there have been many).
It's sad that people only care about themselves to the point where the safety of others is an inconvenience to them.
Grow up people. You're not alone in this world and the world doesn't revolve around you; even though you think it does.
