Description
This is not a "quick fix" sort of report/request. I'm wondering when the City will finally re-pave Barney Street, esp. between Spring Street and Mt. Vernon. It continues to be one of THE worst streets in the city. Last time I inquired I was told that they were waiting to schedule the work until after Newport Historical Society had finished the large renovation project on their headquarters building, which has a parking lot accessed via Barney Street. That project ended several years ago. Perhaps the "excuse" now is the Spring Park project, which has been subject to endless delays as well? Could someone please address this publicly? Perhaps a social media post? Thank you.

It sounds as though the Barney Street gas main work is one of many RI Energy Newport projects.
Are you suggesting that ALL dozen projects must be completed before the City can "reconstruct" this particular street, Barney Street? Or, is the plan to re-do the streets that needs it over time, as RI Energy moves through their project to-do list? The idea of waiting 2 more years for this particular street to be fixed seems a long time.
