  THE CITY OF TACOMA DOES NOT CONDONE HATEFUL AND INSENSITIVE COMMENTS IN ANY FORM OR FORUM

  The City regrets the choice of some to use our social media postings to express hateful and insensitive comments. Recently, and regretfully, our posts sharing events of Pride Month were followed by such comments. We are deeply saddened by this and join with our employees in our objection to these, and any, assaults on human dignity.
  
  We have reported many of the recent comments from the City’s Facebook page to Facebook, encouraging their removal. Facebook has more latitude to remove such comments than the City, as a public entity creating a public forum has. We understand that Facebook is currently in the process of reviewing them for removal. We are also reviewing City policies in light of current law, and will align our internal management of these comments with our updated policy.

Most common reasons for not confirming a violation: The address you selected to have inspected for potential violation was invalid. Your concern has been rerouted to another department/agency. The inspector cannot see or confirm violations from the right-of-way: street, alley or in fenced yards because they have limited access to enter private property. The violation does not meet the threshold for enforcement per Tacoma Municipal Code by Neighborhood and Community Services, Code Compliance. Your concern is not a public health or safety code violation per Tacoma Municipal Code. The issue is a civil matter between neighbors and it does not cause a public health and or safety risk The issue was resolved upon inspection or before the property owner was notified.
