Description

Within 30 feet of the Stop sign at Bates and Providence there is a deep dip in the roadway. Apparently caused by poor compaction around a storm drain pipe running under Bates, the dip is very pronounced at the edge of the roadway.

Most cars approach the Stop sign on Bates veering to the left to avoid the dip, however left turning traffic from Providence onto Bates is sometimes prevented from making the turn due to Bates being partially blocked by cars veering away from the road edge.
