Description
town beach is filthy, full of dead seaweed, flies and fleas all over it, as well as trash... beach area is totally disgraceful... barely a place to sit and enjoy. Since we are not allowed on Long Beach for most of the summer, could the Town at the very least, maintain the only beach area we have access to? Thank you.

The Beach in front of Pilgrim Sands at 150 Warren Ave, and the old Bert's restaurant are privately owned, so the town does not have access rights to maintain it.
Should you be referring to public areas north of this, the beach and parking areas are maintained by DPW and the Recreation Departments- Natural Resources maintains from the end of the parking lot north (the 4x4 section). We will refer this to Recreation to scout for trash and organize removal, however seaweed being a part of the natural beach ecosystem will not be removed as it provides food and cover for a number of species. Seaweed will typically biodegrade quickly if not removed by the tide.
Also, please note that Long Beach is opened to walking, and any road or crossover restrictions typically only apply to motor vehicles.
