Description

The city has done very little if anything about the drainage problem in the Terrytown subdivision. The rains of May 2010 had water backed up to my front door due to the drainage ditches along the city's right of way that have not received the clearing attention needed to drain the area. This problem has been here for as long as I have lived here. Every spring the water backs up into my front yard. I have tried in the past to address this problem with the city and all they have done was to make the ditch in front of my house deeper.
Well since nothing has been done or ever will be done I have come to the conclusion that if only one person is affected by a problem that the problem will not be fixed. If on the other hand the problem affects ten people the problem might be fixed. And if the problem affects, say 100 people, then the outcry would be over whelming.
Looks like the single one person under durest has not a leg to stand on.
Thanks for your help? in this matter.
While the picture I sent does not look very bad but in May of 2010 when the rains came I mhad 4 feet of rain water in my Garage. The very next year after the Corp. of Engineers said that in May of 2010 was a once ever 100 years the rains came again.
I just wanted the city, who collect my moneies in taxes and rain water drainage fees, to do what they are suppose to do and clean out the city's drainage ditches in front of all the houses.
I am closing this post because there is no way that I can see that this venue will get any results from the city. They, the city, will continue to demand taxes and not respond to any complaint an individual has concerning the cities responcability. While the picture shows but a little bit of backup, the rains that fell 2011 filled the entire front of my property. This is an ongoing problem that the city needs to take care of.
Thak you.
