  I believe the last time this was requested, the city said they will not add any speed deterrents including speed sensors. They say that they use data to understand where to add it and because there aren’t enough crashes and accidents on this street, they will not add any speed deterrents.

  But maybe this time, city will be proactive and understand there’s a speeding problem instead of waiting for an accident to happen.

  Oh! I just moved to the area and I was shocked at how fast people go on this street given the speed limit. Good to know that this has been requested before

  I agree about the need to slow down speeds on our residential streets. I live in the other side of I-5 and the speed of traffic is regularly 10 + miles an hour above posted speed limit.
  Is there a way to work with the City and Police Department to do more to slow down traffic and do enforcement? Was also told that my street could not have speed bumps and/or traffic circles. 8th Ave NE between NE 175 and NE 145th.
  Is there anything that can be done?

  ^i definitely think something should be done, and merely saying no (in Patty’s street case) completely ignores the problem. If the speed limits aren’t followed, then people are expecting cars to go a certain speed which could lead to accidents due to the inability to predict (both as a pedestrian and a driver) how fast a car is driving towards them.

  It’s also only going to get worse around 1st Ave once the light rail comes in. Not saying we need speed bumps along the whole AVE, primarily around the high populated areas that people walk around
