Description
Drivers traveling south on High St. towards Santa Clara often spot a red light at Santa Clara, and make a quick left turn on Liberty. They pick up speed and are traveling at an unsafe speed by the time they are halfway down our very long block. We are located next to Lincoln Park, and surmise we may be getting traffic going there, or out to Harbor Bay. We have many families with small children living on our block and would like assistance to calm the traffic. At least half the block has signed a petition for speed bumps, but we are open to other suggestions as well.

Thank you for reporting your concerns about street safety in Alameda. We will share your concerns with City transportation engineers and PD.
The City will be creating criteria for installing traffic calming devices such as neighborhood traffic circles and speed humps along residential streets. Once this guidance is developed, the City will be in a better position to evaluate requests it receives from residents throughout the city for these devices.
Your report will help inform the City of Alameda’s work to achieve our Vision Zero goal of eliminating traffic fatalities and severe injuries. We will use street safety reports, including yours, in combination with crash data and equity indicators to prioritize and design street safety investments. This evaluation will generally happen on an annual basis, with some exceptions for clear and pressing trends. Issues that the City deems to be immediate safety concerns will be elevated for quick action.
