Hello, several neighborhood residents came before the Traffic Management Advisory Committee several months ago requesting that the Town consider options to slow vehicles and improve the existing stop at this location. The petitioners told committee members that the wide open Y section of Country Way allows vehicles to speed and is a safety concern for children and parents crossing the street to and from a school bus stop.

The markings placed is one of several options under consideration and is a pilot to observe traffic flow. The cones placed on the road were to protect the fresh paint and they have been removed.

Thanks for the feedback. The way that corner is designed now makes it vey narrow and dangerous (IMO) for cars wanting to make the turn. If you want to stop speeding - ask the Needham police to spend a week here every other month and issue tickets (lawn and delivery companies!). In addition, you might slow them at this turn but there is speeding on the rest of Country Way and Stratford Rd as people know it is never policed. Maybe we need to get residents to complain about the speeding in other parts of this neighbourhood. BTW. I was nearly side swipped at this new intersection as a lawn care company with a trailer tried to make the new turn and I was approaching the stop sign. A communication to all residents and a comment period would have been nice as well.

I have lived in this neighborhood for 30 years, and am aware that corner can be a hazard. The traffic pattern that was just created is really "unfriendly" and potentially unsafe. If the objective is to slow the traffic approaching the intersection from Central and bearing right, a better solution would be speed bumps before the intersection in both directions. The biggest safety hazard is from cars turning left onto Country Way from the Stratford direction and rolling through the stop sign.
