Description
On or around May 16th of 2011 a vehical ran upon the grassy area on Park Ave. (on the corner of Chesapeake Ave. and Park ave.) and ran over the no parking this side of the street sign and hit the power pole and knocked over the street light over my driveway. (the streetlight has since been replaced) but the no parking sign was removed and not replaced, also the power pole to this day has yellow tape around it and a severe crack down the middle of it, I was thinking it would come down during our last big storm(it was rocking back and forth during the strong wind gusts) is this something I need to bring up with the Civic League?

Thank you for your report about the operation of the lights around your residence. I have placed the street light outage requests into the DVP reporting system and will try to get an answer about the difference in the height of recently replaced lights along Chesapeake Blvd. The existing light poles height is still standard DVP material, so it makes no sense why they would choose the incorrect size for replacement. It's not like they wouldn't notice the difference when there are numerous poles in the immediate area. The one that was hit by a car on Park Ave. was replace with the proper size and you indicated it wasn't even working. I also identified some other locations where repairs are needed and have reported them accordingly.
The issue with the damaged wooden pole near your driveway isn't something the City can assess the pole's stability. We have provided in the past some contact name and phone number to the historic districts Civc League. Frank Lilley has that information and the Civic League can inquiry directly to the utility company about a staus of a project. The pole is identified as a Verizon owned pole. The contact person for Verizon to resolve issues such as this is:
