Description
The bar located in the basement of the Gresham Court apartment building on Stuart Circle (1600 Monument Ave.) has multiple signs and visual displays on this historic corner, and the collection is increasing. Doesn't being in the Monument Avenue Historic District protect the area from such seemingly inappropriate commercial displays?

I find the signs to be inappropriate for Monument Avenue. Monument Avenue is old and historic district. The signage is inappropriate at best and perhaps unlawful.
Have the recent developments been approved by the Commission for Architectural Review?
Did the Monument Avenue Preservation Society approve the signage?
I refuse to enter the debate regarding the need for “neighborhood cafes and eateries” or the need for “business success in a basement space”. I object to the recent signage based on the precedence that this sets for future development on Monument Avenue.
I suggest that the business owners should have understood their environment before establishing their organization in an Old and Historic District.
