A four way stop sign would be a great improvement for all. Probably better to contact the traffic planning department than the police.

I recently placed a covert radar sign on Jefferson Road just north of Franklin Avenue in preparation for the start of the school year and the large amount of Halloween pedestrians in that area. The data collected from August 21 to September 7 showed a total vehicle count of 10,866 vehicles. Out of those vehicles 1,826 exceeded 30 MPH. Anything would be an improvement on Jefferson. These stats show that nearly 20% are exceeding 30MPH. I live on Jefferson and the rate of speed some drivers take down Jefferson is shocking.

The average speed is not useful in this case because that area often has significant slowdowns due to congestion, crossing guards, and drivers who park right where the radar was placed. (We noticed the radar.) When drivers can speed here, they often do. How many above 35MPH? The percentage is not interesting for the same reasons, but count per day seems very relevant.

This request was addressed by Sgt. Strobel to include the placement of a covert radar unit (commented below). Additionally I have monitored the area on multiple occasions during the morning hours since the start of the school year when students are walking to school.
