I live in this area and agree with you 100%.
Many residents vehicles have been broken into by druggies looking for something to steal and sell for drugs.
I heard a rumor that the city is going to close off beaver hill like they did the old school stairway that runs between oakwood and 10th street. Anyone else hear this?
If they close off Beaver HIll and tear down 14 oakwood Ave, this neighborhood would be so much nicer.

The police used to sit and do radar in front of 14 oakwood. They were pulling speeders over every 5 minutes. I suspect the police were writing lots of revenue generating tickets too.
Maybe they can bring two police cars next time. One officer can chase speeders down Oakwood ave and the other can chase drug sellers (and buyers) down beaver hill (and up sausse ave).

This is still going on.
I haven't noticed a police presence. It seems that the authorities turn a blind eye to the incredibly obvious drug dealing in much of Troy?
It's pretty easy to see which building (and people) on 10th street is selling all the drugs... just look for the one with the young guys hanging around outside on the sidewalk.
Here's a hint: it's on the odd side of the street near the bottom of the beaver hill trail.

school-zone - drugs 4 sale (Guest)
One of the main drug selling buildings is 395 10th street. These young punks are selling drugs day and night, less than 500 feet from the elementary school.
Maybe the polce know about it and are waiting before going in and making arrests?
I know that it's pretty easy for the city to deem a property a "nuiscance" and close it down if it is a known drug selling property.
Get a police informant to go buy some drugs there, get a search warrant and get rid of these scum bags.
Fine the absentee landlord so maybe he won't rent to drug dealers again.

To find out who owns a property you can go to Troys website and view the Tax rolls type in the address and search. The owners name and mailing address will be listed.
The problems you are experiencing in your neighborhood are not confined to the 10th ave/beaver hill area, it is everywhere. I live off Burdette ave and see drug deals constantly going on at Detroit and Michigan aves. I call the police every time I see it. The kids will sit in a car and smoke pot, leave litter all over the street.
If all of the folks in your neighborhood call the police (non-emergency number) every time you see something they will eventually have to patrol the area. If you can write down plate numbers/ make/model of the car- but don't be obvious about it because I would imagine drug dealers can be dangerous.

no more drugs (Guest)
Residents of this area have been complaining of drug sales for a while but the police seem to let it go on. Last night on 9th and Rensselaer st, a 17 year old was shot in the head during a driveby shooting. Why do shooting generally happen? As a result of a conflict over drugs usually.
Guess where they just found the dark colored sedan they've been looking for?! At 49 Oakwood Ave. Where did the owner of the sedan live? In the big grey apartment building at the corner of Oakwood Ave and Sausse Ave... right where we've been complaining about the constant drug sales!
If the police had done something months ago about the drug sales in this apartment building... a 17 year old kid might not be shot in the head and laying in the hospital now.

drugs galore on sausse ave (Guest)
No, we still have the drug sales in the big crack house apartment complex on Sausse ave. The big tall younger black guy (almost always wears an orange t shirt) still lumbers back and forth selling drugs between 10th st and Sausse ave.
I think he's the same guy who was arrested when the cops found his smashed up car that was used in the drive-by shooting on 10th street (a kid got shot in the head remember?)

1208 sausse ave.
Code enforcement needs to close down this property under the nuisance ordinance.
Enough (Guest)
It's time to go.
Enough drug dealing in our neighborhood.
49 oakwood ave drug den (Guest)
Heavy drug use and sales going on at 49 Oakwood Ave.
There are children in the home.
This neighborhood is teetering on the edge. It can go either way... good or bad. It appears that it's turning into another 8th or 9th ave. drug ghetto.
Police please take notice before we lose the neighborhood to the drug users and sellers.

If you've ever listened to the scanner (http://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/15434/web), you know the TPD is spread way to thin to make a dent in Troys staggeringly high crime rate. The poor police officers go from one "baby-sitting call" to the next. Usually, numerous calls/issues are stacked up waiting for the officer to get back "in service". You wouldn't believe the ridiculous things that people call the police for!? They have no time to spend on Troys real issue... the drug problem.
The black male dealer you see selling to cars on oakwood ave lives at 76 oakwood on the right side. This info has been relayed to the rensselaer country drug task force and the TPD months ago (numerous times) but the dealing continues. No arrests. Nothing.
1208 sausse ave continues to be an issue. The old black male that lives there is always walking back and forth between sausse ave and 9th ave to get his drugs. He also buys or sells from the guy at 76 oakwood ave.
The young black male/s at 55 Oakwood are into it too. 8 undercover officers (yes 8!) showed up on 2/2/14 looking for someone there.
This neighborhood is turning to sh*t because the police are not equipped to deal with all the drug sales in Troy. Something's gotta change soon.

One thing that doesn't help is that the buildings in the neighborhood are mostly vacant & deteriorating. Look at 14 oakwood. It's been vacant for over a decade. 16 oakwood ave is now vacant, its pipes frozen solid and busted. 49 oakwood is vacant and 51 oakwood is city owned and vacant. 55 oakwood ave is going into foreclosure. It'll probably be vacant soon because no one is going to buy that mess.
The only thing saving this little pocket neighborhood is the few homeowners who live here and care about the area. If we start leaving, this area will quickly become so far gone that they could use the neighborhood as a set for "The Wallking Dead".
