Sep 10 2015......never gets fixed --- for the first time in 2015, in aug 2015 some asphalt got thrown in about half of the (deepest, widest) holes, rest got nothing and ALL are still getting bigger & bigger......including the asphalt throw-ins which are now crumbling out.......and this was after in the spring of 2015 NEW CONCRETE was laid in front of 19300 brody while the whole rest of the street was not touched, not patched, just neglected
oct 2015 city came out and plopped some asphalt patch in some of the holes...didn't tamp it down so a percentage around the edges just crumbled under vehicle tires and is waiting to get swept up by the street cleaner...the patch that managed to stay in the holes is now squished down by vehicle tires so that the holes are once again half filled....end result the road is just as bumpy and hard to drive on 2 days later......current method is a total waste of time and money.
Now that the AP road millage has passed maybe this much used BRODY MESS will get addressed.
The entrance off Pelham is a potholed mess. The end of the culdesac is much much worse. The turnaround where all the baseball, softball and soccer players get dropped off (or just illegally park) is just a crumbling mess. For as much use as this dead-end street gets it is really surprising how much maintenance neglect it has endured over the years.
so its now may 12 2016 and all the pothole patches from last oct 2015 have fallen out and the potholes are GROWING in size ,,, there is one way in and one way out to this dead-end street and that is THROUGH THE POTHOLES :(
june 7 2016 and its been a couple weeks since the deepest of the holes were filled which left 2/3rds of them untouched......the newly filled ones have the top inch or so already crumbled into little tar balls all over the road and well back on their way to becoming potholes again ....... constant 'perfume on a pig'
big news......nothing has changed with the first 200' of potholes at the entrance to the Brody cul-de-sac which all residents have to come and go over......BUT IN JULY 2016 the heavy equipment rolled in and ripped up the totally crumbling LAST 200' which is the turnaround portion that NONE of the residents use at all .....so now there is beautiful new cement for the soccer and ball players to illegally park on while they are in Champaign park.....well at least the potholes tend to slow them down when they race on & off Brody for their games.
november 2016 ..... nothing done since june 7 2016 ...... can't wait for the next freeze/thaw cycle to pop what remains of the "fill" out of the chuckholes
2/7/2017 temp in 30's ..10am .. at the beginning of a day long downpour of rain.. city dump truck plopped shovels of loose tar in the chuckholes (that are filled with water) just as they did back in nov 2016 .... 2hours later I drive back down the street and of course the street is covered with loose tar balls ... as the cars squash the mess of loose tar patch and water together it all squishes back out onto the solid road surface and just scatters all over the place ... oh well .. maybe the street sweeper will come by and clean up this mess :(
