Belmont Blvd has become so crowded at rush hour with cars going so fast that it is very difficult to pull out onto Belmont Blvd from the side streets connected to it. Traffic lights would only make congestion worse. This street is used to move traffic south to suburbs. The result is that traffic is going through the neighborhood to find alternative routs, making the neighborhood side streets more congested and less safe. Most of all, pedestrians are not respected as having the right of way - even in crosswalks. Public announcemnts and posters to educate the public about pedestrians and bikes is imperative if we are to have desirable inter-city neighborhoods.
