Thank you for your concern. Public Works is awaiting the final plan for the park before making a decision about the traffic signal. There are specific standards, mostly based on the amount of traffic, that have to be met for a location to be eligible for a traffic signal. The park is not expected to generate as much traffic as the school did so the city may end up taking the signal down and replacing it with some type of pedestrian crossing once the plans for the park have been finalized.

Thank you. I understand the wait, but also hate to see parents and children running/pedaling across Roberts to access the park while dodging traffic which is often exceeding the posted 35 mph speed limit by 15 mph or more (our own police often travel these speeds btw). If the city is not going to police the speed on Roberts, we need ways to slow down traffic as pedestrians/cyclists. Crossing the road, walking on the sidewalks, and cycling in the bike lanes should not involve dodging cars and trucks traveling at 55-60 mph.
