Thanks for noticing Crusader 99.
Lea, I saw your comments and wanted to clear the record.
We did not fine this property owner because he did not create this issue. Tenants (and even full time residents) moving in or out of can create more trash and recycling during that event. We notified the property owner to see that they respond appropriately. If they do not, we would issue a ticket and a fine.
We do not post on SeeClickFix every ticket issued or every conversation we have with property owners or tenants. We try to post only the basic facts and get the issue resolved.
If you are interested in the ticket process, there are two tickets scheduled for a trial on September 15th. The tickets were issued for properties on S. Union Street and S. Willard Street this year and the property owner contested the tickets, was found guilty in municipal court and has appealed to have a jury trial. They were the second tickets issued for both properties and as a result had a $200 fine each as a second tier offense in a 12-month period. The court calendar can be found here if you are interested in attending to learn every detail. We simply cannot put every detail into every SCF posting. Here is the link:

Regarding your “off hours” comment it seems you may misunderstand the posts by “code enforcement” on SCF during off hours, a weekend or on a holiday. Those specific posts are not “staff”. That is the director and I can log in with the same generic “code enforcement” tag on my phone app while keeping my desktop version open with my personal account. We all have access to a generic Code Enforcement login. My evening, weekend and holiday posts do not earn me extra pay, so my work during those times is not costing you extra money as you suggested.

I was acknowledging, and appreciating, the time given to the job. I know the difference between hourly wage and salary, and was not inferring extra cost to city,. To the contrary I was appreciative of the time you give, and not only the director
posts after hours.
As for your ticket rant, keep it simple. Code violations on the property are the responsibility of the property owner, period. If ordinances need to be written more clearly, there's a standing ordinance committee of council and your key councilors are learning what's needed.
