The SunRunner will be a new train-like transit line that will connect downtown St. Petersburg to South Pasadena and St. Pete Beach — and a world of possibilities. This website tells you not to park there. Neither VISITORS or RESIDENTS go to websites to check where to park or ride a bike. We need ON PAVEMEnT and side of road signage!!!!!

Nobody knows it is a bike lane. Please mark the pavement before more people DIE! Lord it is not hard.

FYI I just got back in town and there are bicycles painted on CENTRAL and NOT on 1st Ave South. This is Counter to where the website says the bike lanes are. Central Avenue is not safe for bikes from 20th to 31st streets with the current parking configuration. Can you please paint over those bicycles or at least put the bicycles on 1st Ave south. Why are the bicycles painted on central? To tell cars to share the road? Or to direct bicycles that that is the road for bikes traveling East/west?

The shared lane markings have been present on Central Avenue between 31st Street and Bayshore Drive since late 2016. The markings are paired with “Bikes May Use Full Lane” signage as a reminder to everyone that bicyclists should be expected to be operating in the roadway. The placement of the markings specifically encourages bicyclists to operate in the same direction as traffic and with ample clearance away from parked vehicles. It is preferable for bicyclists to safely and legally operate in the street to avoid conflicts with pedestrians and sidewalk activities.

Thank you for your concerns. Additional markings, including some green colored, are yet to best installed, but are in the works in order to more clearly indicate the bike lane within the new pavement that was just constructed. They’ll be installed following a minimum 30-day cure period that’s required based on the materials specifications.
