Description

Pedestrians always walk in the street along Schooner Ct between Mesford and the walking path that connects to 20th Ave, instead of using the sidewalk on the East side. The problem is the walking path does not line up with the sidewalk on Schooner Ct, and most people do not cross over to the sidewalk using the crosswalks at either end. Additionally, tree branches stick out into the street on the West side of Schooner making the problem worse. It would be far safer to have a sidewalk on the West side of Schooner Ct, and it would eliminate a crosswalk and the need to cross the street to walk safely. Hopefully this will be considered for the upcoming street improvement projects planned for the area. I have had close calls driving around the curve on Schooner Ct with walkers in the middle of the street instead of the sidewalk. An alternative would be to post signs that say it is illegal to walk in the street when there is a sidewalk present on the other side.
