Description

The 40th street underpass by the BART station is filthy and very poorly lit.

It's terribly dirty. It smells like urine. A truck was burned there and there is still debris there. There is only one trash can and it usually full and it is nowhere near the bus stops so people just leave their trash on the benches.

The lighting on the north side does not really work at all. I have seen signs that a lighting improvement project will happen but when? And why is there nothing in the meantime.

I don't understand how such a high traffic area is not taken care of.

I walk to work through there every day and the lighting and dirt make it feel unsafe and unsanitary.

So much money was spent to improve that transportation hub but the underpass does not match the rest of the work. I don't understand how so many companies use that hub (BART, Emerygoround, the buses for Google and Facebook) and no one takes responsibility for it.

The 42nd Street underpass is in better shape than 40th st.
