Description
There have been previous requests for this to be fixed and the city has acknowledged them but nothing has changed. I use these traffic lights everyday and I am scared crossing the streets by foot and by car because it is dangerous due to cars running the red lights.
The lights for the East and West flowing traffic on University have a lot of traffic and there is no in between time from when the North and South flowing lights change. It seems that the red light is very short and the cross traffic green light starts right away. This causes cars to run the red lights because they do not have adequate time to react and slow down because the lights are changing so fast.
This is a huge problem because the lights change so fast without any delay time causing traffic to run red lights and hit the cross traffic. I have witnessed numerous close calls and actual accidents because of the problem. This is a picture of an accident today, on January 11, 2022.
Please fix this problem ASAP

Thank you for being a valued resident.
The good news is the University and Memorial traffic signal timing repair is scheduled to begin next week, as early as Monday, January 24, 2022. It will take a few days to complete.
Required parts were on back order because of the pandemic. We are working to better explain to our resident the repairs that have a long lead time to completion. We appreciate your feedback and reporting this concern.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email news@cityoflamesa.us or call 619.667.1191.
