Description
My roommate and I have experienced constant exposure to carbon monoxide in our apartment by way of our 2 faulty heaters as well as a faulty oven. PG&E has been called to our home on 4 different occasions to test deadly carbon monoxide levels due to the lack of maintenance to our appliances and heaters.
We had been advised by PG&E not to use our heaters due to the deadly levels of CO emissions (close to 700+ ppm). We had been without heat for over 3 weeks before the issue was finally resolved (yesterday) by our landlord. Had we not taken it upon ourselves to repeatedly call for repairs, we would still be without heat.
Last night PG&E was called again due to our carbon monoxide alarm going off, only to learn that our oven is releasing deadly levels of CO as well.
We require a new oven to replace the faulty oven in our apartment and have not been able to reach anyone directly from our rental company.
We cannot cook in our home and are required to order food and/or travel to other people's homes in order to cook our meals (all during a pandemic).
I also fear that other apartment units in our building are being exposed to similar levels of carbon monoxide, but are unaware due to the distance between the CO alarm and their gas appliances.
What can be done to help this matter and to hold our rental company/landlord accountable?
