Landowners agreed to route weibel behind Stewarts years ago at their cost. City wouldnt allow it when neighbors complained about accompanying development. Issue will never get fixed because neighbors would rather have dangerous intersection than more development.
I live in the Meadowbrook area and take Gilbert Rd. to the Wilton Mall area, almost daily. I have had several "close calls" going from Gilbert Road, across Rt. 29 to Weible Road. The "offset intersections at Rt. 29, Gilbert Rd and Weible are VERY DANGEROUS. The traffic signal at RT. 29 and Weible has TWO GREEN ARROWS. When you think ALL IS CLEAR, TRAFFIC BURSTS OUT OF WEIBLE ON THE GREEN ARROW.
I now go further on Rt. 9P to Henning Road - to Rt. 29, as I then have the benefit of the traffic signal at Weible. THERE SHOULD BE A SUNCHRONIZED SIGNAL AT GILBERT ROAD AT RT. 29.

I agree trying to turn onto route 29 from Gilbert road is frustrating and dangerous. But another light in this area will only complicate the problem and back up traffic on 29 and Weibel avenue. A better more permanent solution would be to reroute Gilbert road behind the Stewarts to align with Weibel Avenue making a 4 way intersection. This may be a little more costly, but it is a solution that would not have to be rectified again in the future.
You are right I was just there to day the traffic was back up to the Northway Exit. Wiebel Avenue past the Target entrance and a steady stream of cars on Old Gick, and of course 2 cars trying to make an illegal left by Key Bank. Very frustrating area. Whenever possible I go around on Jones road.
