Walking my son to school at Chesnut every day, I can tell you speeding and distracted driving are the worst I’ve seen. I arrived early with another parent yesterday so we pressed the button for the crossing lights and began walking, only for three cars to continue through at full speed, forcing us back to the sidewalk. The crossing guard across from the school entrance told me yesterday he has almost been hit 3 times this year and routinely has people blow past him. People definitely don’t abide by the 25mph speed limit and they drive into the bike lane, close to the sidewalk where one false step by a little kid, they get hit. I really think we need a visible display by DPD and one of those Your Speed: digital signs. Maybe even photo enforcement, it’s that bad.
