I've been in cars that actually seemed to speed up going thru this sign, as if to prove a point....I'm like what are you doing? I actually have seen police hanging around on Hewitt or Conway, I think to look for this sort of thing.

I grew up in that neighborhood and walked to and from to G.W. from Kindergarten through 6th Grade. This has got to be the most asinine stop sign in the entire city. What is its purpose? Is there so much traffic on Linderman or Hewitt that stop signs are needed? Is visibility that poor? There is virtually no traffic and visibility is fine. The stop signs were put up by your alderman, Charlie Landi, to slow traffic down. That's an illegal use of a stop sign - and no all-way stop signs are legal. If there was an accident, it would be impossible to prove who had the right-of-way. Take the stop signs down, along with the one at Josephine-Delta-Hewitt. There are too many stop signs in this city - it's not good for your car and it's not good for pollution. Finally, the incessant stop and go is so annoying that drivers are fed up with them - and this gives rise to road rage.

All way stop signs are certainly NOT illegal. Slowing traffic down is a legitamate use of stop signs.

If you really are succombing to road rage because of stop signs - then you don't belong in Kingston. This is a pedestrian friendly city. We are talking about a neighborhood with lots of kids - very close to a school. The stops signs are fully called for.

If you do roll through - I hope you get the ticket you deserve!

In theory the stop signs are great, in reality they don't work, at least this one on Hewitt and Linderman. Living just up the street I can hear cars, not all, most are respectful, but some will down shift just to speed up to go through the stop sign, as they weave their way through cars coming the opposite way and parked cars. Little kids up and down the street, an accident waiting to happen. I would welcome a patrol car to sit in my driveway, and they would be shielded from the speeders, to sit and ticket away! Revenue for the city and safety on Linderman.
