Over 20 years ago the county planted a poorly chosen tree in a poorly chosen location in my lawn. This to satisfy some requirement about tree lined streets. The tree was 4 feet from the sidewalk. It was not bad luck that the sidewalk became damaged, it was inevitable given these bad choices. About 4 or 5 years ago the roots of that tree had pushed up the sidewalk to the point that someone could trip on it. About 2 years ago a crew came through and tore up the sidewalk and, before putting down new concrete, used an adze to chop off the offending roots. The tree started it’s decline. I hired an arborist, spent some money, but he said it would probably die. Die it did.
On May 4, 2021 I put in a ticket to get the tree removed. I wrote this, “This street tree is dead and needs to be removed. It is losing branches and I’m concerned someone could get injured. The tree was killed by the crew replacing the sidewalk in front of it.”. Nothing was done. On August 12 a storm pushed the tree over into another tree on my lot and damaged my tree and put my neighbor’s property at risk. Only then was the tree cut down.
Some weeks later a crew came in to remove the stump and, while bouncing their machine up and down to clear some dirt, damaged their machine, which sprayed oil all over the street. The asphalt is now permanently stained.
The street has needed repairs for some time. See the picture above. I would like to see the street regraded and repaved. The original ticket seems closed so I am attempting a new one.
I will check with our surfacing operations to see if this road is scheduled for any kind road surfacing in the near future and respond back here to you.
Your picture is in the wrong spot, but yes, it had faded some. The street either needs resurfacing, or at least repairs. I’ll look forward to hearing back from you.
Good Morning User Ed Hackett, here is what I received from our pavement management team. I know it doesn't immediately answer your question but it appears they are trying to push this for next year.
Good morning Jim:
I apologize for the delay in getting back to you on this one. I had a chance to evaluate this road and noticed there are several alligator cracks (structural failures) on the pavement surface. Hopefully we will get the inspection report before the end of next month. For now, I will have this road listed on the waiting list.
Thank you

Let’s review how we came to this.
