Description
Severely overgrown commercial lot on one of Haltom City's busiest streets.
This is the corner of Belknap and Layton.
But look, what's this!? They already have a sign. It appears the Code officers gave a 10 day notice sign 56 days ago.

Dear Innocent bystander, you hit the nail on the head once again.
This business owner has undue influence at City Hall as many others do. The City is desperate for development and all the fees, inspections and work that it creates. Because of this desperation they turn a blind eye to continuing code violations. What the business owners and developers learn is that City Hall is a push over. This property was presented as a keystone in the Belknap revitalization plan. The fancy building never materilazed and we have a overgrown lot instead.

Well, Innocent Bystander it looks like this site will soon die. The City of Haltom City, as expected, simply ignored the postings, comments and requests from the very people they solicited to participate. Rest assured the staff of the code office have read these posts everyday, so too have the public works office. The reason you see few official responses is that by responding they must take some responsibility. Responsibility leads to accountability, accountability leads to ctiticizsm, critisism leads to poor reviews, poor reviews lead to poor paychecks, or worse. The best way to diffuse the ire of citizens is to simply ignore them. That is what you now have. How is it that across the board the managers of the departments have failed to respond? Simply put, the orders come from on high. You would think that some council member would step up to the plate and demand action. You would think wrong. Why bother?
Your cry for revolution and accountability will fall on deaf ears. You have no platform from which you can be heard. This site has a dismal number of readers. The city makes no effort to advertize it. Remember those many posts from the residents of the Rio Vista Apartments? They are now quitely tucked in the archives, never to confront the city again. Unfortuately, as so often happens, legitimately concerned citizens became frustrated, aggravated and and in the end give up. For those trained in these matters it is child's play. The masses are easily controlled.
While you are to be commeneded for your continueing efforts, in the end there is no accountability in Haltom City Hall. We see the favoritism, neglect and worse, yet it only grows more with each passing paycheck. The attitude is, “ it worked well last payperiod, I guess I'll do it this payperiod too”.
The goal here, like in prison, is simply to keep a low profile and get through the next week. There will be daylight someday.
Trying get anything done here is like eating soup with a fork.Lots of effort little progress.
Good luck to you.

Thank you IB,
I was wondering........... Is this anything like the "Operation Crooked Code" in Chicago? 2008 and 09
" An issue becomes archived when it is closed and is uncontested for 7 days."
Dont let them die.........................if they're not fixed.
