This was a stone bench that WAS approved and installed by the City. It sure as hell was not paid for by the City though.
Former neighbor Napi Ippolito was able to apply and win huge grants under OHNA’s aegis. These grants paid for much of the work on our park near the riverfront, including the bike/pedestrian bridge over the canal under the Lee Bridge.
The City spent the grant money that the neighborhood raised. It picked out the design of those expensive stone benches. It needs to take responsibility for them.
It has not always been like this- the City repaired the bridge before-
7/2/2014 - Richmond Parks Mgmt Team (20020940209) noted they have repaired this bench before and it appears vandals may be taking it apart. Parks Mgmt has noted they have repaired the bench and applied a compound mix to seal the pieces together. Parks Mgmt also noted they will try their best to stay on top of this repair situation
