Description
The traffic lights on Oak St and 5th St northbound are not synchronized with the northbound traffic lights at Oak St and 6th St.
When the northbound light turns green at 5th St, a vehicle usually arrives at 6th St as the light turns yellow. Sometimes, the first vehicle can reach the green light, but later vehicles cannot. The vehicle has the following choices:
1. Speed when leaving 5th St toward 6th St. This is dangerous for all involved.
2. Run the yellow or red light at 6th St. This is dangerous.
3. Get a head start at 5th St and run the red light at the end of the cycle. This is the safest option, if there
4. Sit and wait. This increases driver anger, which is not safe. It also increases air pollution and greenhouse gases.
The route is commonly traveled by bicycles. The bicyclists lives are in danger from speeding vehicles. The bicyclists have the same issues. Break the law, risking their lives, or waste extra time behind the exhaust pipe of other vehicles.
Please synchronize these lights.
