    This new ADU obviously fails to comply with the city's code for ADUs. And to be clear, the city code for ADUs was carefully written, and ultimately passed by our City Council, to also be sure to protect the home values of other neighboring RS-zoned homeowners.

    This RS-zoned residence no longer looks anything like a SINGLE-family residence. Instead, from our RS-zoned SINGLE-family neighborhood street, this building now looks like a cheap motel (at best).

    Existing garage doors were completely removed AND there are now THREE front entrances to this RS-zoned building, which is in violation of the city code for ADUs. So, clearly this ADU was established without a fully compliant ADU application, and this construction was done without a city building permit.

    Notice how "SHALL", "APPEARANCE of the building" and "REMAINS" is all written into our city code for ADUs. The garage doors cannot be removed from the front of a SINGLE-family residence while maintaining the APPEARANCE of a SINGLE-family residence in our neighborhood. Every single residential building in our neighborhood has at least TWO garage doors visible from the street.

    "An ADU SHALL be designed so that, to the degree reasonably feasible, the APPEARANCE of the building REMAINS that of a SINGLE-family residence."

    "ADUs may be accessed through the entrance to the primary dwelling unit or through an additional entrance on the side or rear of the residence. Only ONE entrance is allowed on the front of the residence."

    Caller wanted to report a 2-story structure in the backyard. They also reported a second driveway on the left side of the property that is now covered in sod and grass. The caller also believes they are running a construction business out of the property as multiple commercial vehicles have been seen on the property.

    Multiple shed-type structures used for habitation. One in particular is built overhanging the steep slope that leads down to Dash pt. Road. It looks like all it would take to send the entire construction onto the road is one good rainstorm or a little earthquake. Recently there have been additions and expansion done to the building.
