366 Winthrop Ave New Haven 06511, United States - Edgewood
Yet another terrible accident at Winthrop and Maple last night! Not sure if anybody was hurt but this is a frequent occurrence. When will the city put up blinkers to mark these dangerous intersections?
  • Corner Of Sherman And Chapel New Haven, Connecticut - Edgewood
This was posted a few months back. A comment that it would be looked into was posted and the thread was closed. This is a dangerous intersection, this is not just a nusaince. Anyone trying to go left basically has to risk it and go on a red light during high volume and hope for the best. Please observe this corner during evening rush hour any weekday. ORIGINAL POST: There is a need for a left turn arrow from Sherman onto Chapel at this corner by YNHH St. Raphael Campus. Traffic during rush hours backs up here all the way back to (and sometime through) the prior intersection at Sherman and George. It is impossible for people to go left, and due to parked cars, it is impossible for traffic to pass them on the right and continue straight on Sherman. If this could be addressed it would clear up a lot of congestion and back up every single week day.
  • Chapel St & Yale Ave New Haven, CT, 06515, USA - Westville
Blinking traffic light is not safe. Switch light to traditional red/yellow/green to slow traffic. Yale Ave is very unsafe due to cars speeding through residential neighborhood. Several speed bumps would solve problem at low cost to city.
  • 256 Edwards Street New Haven, Connecticut - Bishop-Hine
Is there anything we can do about the constant use of Edwards Street by large construction vehicles and 18-wheelers? They seemingly drive by regularly at all hours of the day and night, especially in the early morning. They create a lot of noise just driving, and oftentimes they even honk (I'm thinking this must be at the protestors that are regularly at Planned Parenthood on Edwards & Whitney). There are frequently dump trucks that use Edwards St, I think to get to the construction that is happening on Yale's Science Hill. Edwards St seems to be overwhelmingly residential as far as I can tell, and as a result I think should not be used this heavily by construction or commercial vehicles.
  • Intersection Of Dwight Street And Edgewood Avenue. New Haven, Connecticut - Dwight
This morning, December 5 at approximately 10:15 AM I witnessed an automobile doing at least 40mph (probably more like 50mph!) speeding down Dwight Street from Elm Street toward Edgewood Avenue. It went through the red light at the intersection of Dwight and Edgewood and turned left, tires squealing. This is not an isolated incident. Speeding on Dwight and running the stoplight at Edgewood is a daily occurrence. What made this particular incident uniquely disturbing is that a policeman happened to be standing at the corner and observed the speeding car and saw it run the light, but as far as I could tell, he did nothing.
I've complained about this many times to my alderman Frank Douglas and to Doug Hausladen at Transportation, Traffic and Parking. I've gotten no response at all. This corner is frequently the site of automobile accidents in which serious injuries have occurred. It will eventually be the site of a fatality if nothing is done to address this problem.
  • 60 Lincoln St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - East Rock
A pedestrian was just hit by a car at Pearl and Lincoln St. There needs to be a stop sign on Pearl at Lincoln St. This intersection is not safe for pedestrians, bikes, cars, anyone.
  • 1296 State Street New Haven, Connecticut - Cedar Hill
My neighbor was struck by a vehicle at this intersection yesterday. There are two crosswalks, but no signage or signals. Drivers have no regard for people crossing and it is challenging to keep an eye behind and in front as the cars can enter the ramp from either direction. Additionally, this intersection is near several bus stops and residents of the neighborhood often need to cross this intersection in order to go to the bus stop or to return home.
  • 262 Goffe Ter New Haven - Beaver Hills
Car use the street for racing we need a street bump to reduce speed, we have kinds and they take the school bus on goffe Terrace , it's not safe.
  • 324 Goffe Street New Haven, Connecticut - Dixwell
When heading north on Goffe, traffic is always backed up at the intersection with Sherman due to people trying to turn left onto Sherman. Goffe is wide enough here to put in a left turn lane. This may provide room for others to get around left turners this reducing traffic congestion and improving traffic flow.
  • 232 Bradley St New Haven, CT, 06510, USA - East Rock
Please install stop signs on Lincoln street at Bradley street intersection. Cars frequently speed on both Lincoln and Bradley streets. I have nearly been run over several times, and have nearly been hit several times while trying to back out of my driveway.
  • 188 Lawrence St New Haven CT 06511, United States - East Rock
Motorcycle gangs speeding up street, over sidewalks and lawns. Headed up to Prospect and Newhallville. Better take care of this NHPD.
  • 540 Whalley Avenue New Haven, CT - Edgewood
There are five 12ft decorative lamp posts on Whalley Ave between ETG Blvd & Pendleton St without power. These lamps were formerly powered by adjacent store fronts, however at some point this was disconnected. An investigation for a solution is ongoing.
