Notified About

  • Street Light Archived
2300-2398 Valley Street Oakland, California - Northgate
Please evaluate the section of Valley Street between 23rd and 24th Streets for increased wattage on the existing street lights. Thank you.

438 W Grand Ave Oakland, California - Northgate
The pedestrian crossing (at W Grand and Valley st) from one side of Grand to the other side is increasingly getting more usage. However, cars often speed through this area of Grand Ave without noticing pedestrians. There are currently NO pedestrian crossing signs at this intersection and it is dangerous. We are requesting pedestrian crossing signs be installed and better painted lines. Ideally, we should also have blinking warning lights that can be triggered by pedestrians.
  • Broadway And 24th St Oakland, California - Northgate

The uncontrolled crosswalk on 24th Street crossing Broadway is heavily used, connecting to the YMCA, but I have seen many drivers refuse to stop for pedestrians waiting on the corner and when one does the drivers in the next lane over invariably don't follow suit leading to many close calls. This is especially problematic with traffic on northbound Broadway, as their view of the crosswalk to the left is blocked by the trees and plantings in the median.

I would like to see "sharks teeth" advance yield markings painted on Broadway ahead of the crosswalk to give drivers another visual indication that they should prepare to stop, and if possible install pushbutton-activated rapid flashing beacons on the "pedestrian crossing" signs to make the crosswalk safer to use at both day and night.

At the commercial loading dock on 23rd St and Broadway and across the street at Numi Tea (400 23rd St) dumpsters and trash cans are routinely left uncovered and blocking the public right of way well outside of normal trash collection hours. The building manager for both properties has been repeatedly notified yet the problem persists.
  • 565 Sycamore Street Oakland, California - Northgate
Cars coming off the 980 on Northgate are generally going fairly fast, and there is a curve right before the street crosses Sycamore. Pedestrians trying to cross Northgate at that intersection cannot see whether cars are coming around the bend, and it is a major safety hazard. Either a mirror should be installed there, or a lighted crosswalk, or--best--a traffic signal.
  • 23rd Street And Mlk Jr. Way Oakland, California - Northgate
I would like to first off thank you for picking up the trash and fire debris from the area. Since then 4 to 5 more tents popped up in the area where trash was. Homeless people are sitting in chairs where cars should be parked. This encampment should not be in a residential area. The sidewalks are blocked. Now they are going into areas where cars should be parked. Please remove this encampment from the area it's been there way too long. There is not 2 chairs and some other types of trash in between each tent.
  • 2273 Martin Luther King Jr Way Oakland, California - Northgate

  • Homeless Encampment Acknowledged
23rd Street & Martin Luther King Oakland, California - Northgate
They are back, back, back, back, and back again. They just moved from Cal Tran side of the fence to Oakland City Sidewalk. Back are also the the filth, garbage, and drugs. This is a game they truly know how to play and Oakland is at a lost what to do about it. The question begs, "Would an Oakland Civic Leader tolerate a tent encampment on their block of residence?" Moreover, would they be as tolerant as us to have these encampments to move back and forth a few feet? Collectively are we not County of Alameda tax payers in good standings? Collectively do we have any rights? Aren't they violating any City Codes? Are they not blocking a City Street and impeding pedestrian's right of passage?
  • 23rd And Mlk Oakland California - Northgate
There are many tents on the sidewalk at 23rd and MLK. Some of the occupants have been hostile to local residents.
  • 604-648 23rd Street Oakland, California - Northgate
We need street clean up because of the homeless encampment. It is the 23rd Street between Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Northgate Ave.
  • 625 23rd St Oakland, California - Northgate

I live at 625 23rd st., which is enveloped by a homeless encampment. Aside from the tremendous rat/vector problem, and other grave public health threats that this entails, the situation for pedestrians is now incredibly dangerous. There is a high level of reckless driving on 23rd st. and i am not able to safely use the sidewalk walking in either direction on my street. This is due to tents on one side of ,y place and a trailer parked at 605 23rd st. on the other. I cannot use the sidewalk, wlaking in either direction, and I have nearly been hoit by a car on more than one occasion.

This situation calls for immediate intervention.
