This is the gateway to the city for many people. There are usually panhandlers at every intersection. Mayor Sheehan likes to say that she wants every neighborhood to work for it's residents so how is the constant presence of panhandlers, especially agressive ones like this, good for Arbor Hill and good for the city? Clean this up Mayor or let somebody else lead the city.

People are standing in the middle of many intersections, creating a serious safety issue for themselves and others along with blocking the flow of traffic.

There was just one at central by ShopRite. I also ran into this one on HJB. And I offered $5 and she wanted my $20. Uh no. I thought what I offered was generous. So she got nada.

I also agree the mayor needs to clean this up or step aside. This isn’t the way this city needs to work. It isn’t the way this city wants to be seen as. I can see landing on hard times and asking for some help. That’s fine. But when you’re aggressive or wearing nicer clothes than I am. The mayor and I don’t see eye to eye in many many ways. I truly wish I knew one iota about politics because I would run against her. Heck I couldn’t do a worse job. The city looks the worst it has in many years, violence is up, the police are supposedly told to do nothing about many citizens that are harassing law abiding citizens, she sits in her office and hides. Heck no I would be out among everyone. And the new chief of police wouldn’t have their hands tied. These ones on the bikes would be caught and charged every time they went out. And the ones who want to break the law would be the ones cleaning the city up. It’s not that hard to figure it out. As long as you have no lobbyists in your pocket.

While it is an annoyance, it's really dangerous. She does the same thing the white older guy does on Central and sometimes on Clinton. He runs right out into traffic like he has an emergency, knocks on windows ands begs for $. I've had a close call avoiding hitting him. This situation is so out of hand.

So right, Phoebe. The same is happening on Everett Road, Wolf Road and many other intersections and very busy road ways. Again, when a city allows this, it only gets worse.
