Description

This was first reported three years ago (see below), and nothing has been done. The afternoon rush is completely backed-up on Independence Ave and Maine Ave (westbound) and 17th St. (southbound) b/c the light at the Kutz Bridge on Independence Ave eastbound is timed incorrectly. Relatedly, the lights at the Indpendence Ave and Maine Ave merge (both westbound) are timed poorly as well, backing up Independence, even when no traffic is on Maine. Both issues must be fixed.
Here's the three-year old post: "during evening rush hour, the entire area becomes a huge bottleneck because the light for eastbound independence avenue (just before kutz bridge) is set too long. as a result those traveling south on 17th st wanting to head east on independence clog westbound independence on the northern spur. If you check it out, you will see that there is very little eastbound traffic on independence west of this intersection."
