Code Enforcement inspected the property on 2/10/19. There were some dead palm fronds on the trees and some fronds hanging over the property line. Fronds that extend onto neighboring property may be trimmed back to the property line at the discretion of the neighboring property owner.
No evidence of rodents was found.
The trees are not in violation of the City's Code.

How did you inspect for rats, because they are awake and in the trees every night.
Who was the code compliance officer, because if it is not handled seriously, I will take it to the state level and place a formal complaint?
The comment that there are some dead palms hanging is not the issue, the issue is because she neglects the trees they are now nests for RATS.
If you plan on closing this again without action, post three photos of the concern with your description.
Your new manager, Garry Brumback has an undergrad from Virginia Military Institute (VMI). At VMI, we have an honor code. Have him take a look st the issue becuase if he says there is no issue then he is full of bologna and he shouldn't make his say back to post in Lexington for anymore reunions.
Do your job.

Also, Feb 10th was yesterday which was Sunday. To my understanding there are no city workers besides the essential (police) that are working on Sundays.
Correct me if I am wrong.
Screen shots have been raken if you try to remove.
Do your job.

Please provide an e-mail address and I will send you the report and photos from 02-08-19. I typed in the wrong date on the report but the correct date is on the photos. Incidentally, I do usually work two Sundays a month.

See attached report from Del on Feb 8th as well as a photo. Del stated on 2/11 on this forum that "No evidence of rodents was found" though on the attached report the photos are not even taken from the property owner's property. They were taken from across a 6 foot fence. Then on his report he stated, "Although there are some dead palm fronds in each tree, it is not excessive and does not appear to provide cover for rodents"
Well, "it is not excessive and does not appear to provide cover for rodents" and they are "No evidence of rodents was found" are not the same.
Those trees are filled with rats who typically have the most activity after dust.
So once again Del, I am going to ask you. "How did you inspect for rodents"? I have asked this before and you have yet to answer.
Were you on that property to inspect?
Do you have the expertise to inspect for rodents in palm trees?
I can provide statements from multiple individuals that they have witnessed these rats.

Hi, On April 2nd you said, "Staff scheduled with the owner to go out to the property again next week to inspect and photograph the property"
That was 17 days ago!!!!
I brought the concern of rats in the trees over two and a half months ago.
If you were me, how would you feel about the progress? A week after it was reported, code enforcement goes to the neighboring property and takes photographs 15 feet from the trees on the other side of a 6 ft fence then writes the report and uses difference language on here then within the report.
That is all you have done. Is the inspector friends with the property owner or what? I am being serious and I am asking you that question.

On 04/08/19 The code enforcement officer inspected the property and found no evidence of rodents. There is a rodent bait box on the ground under the palm trees. The homeowner advised the code enforcement officer that she has a professional exterminator that treats the property every two months.
The Code Officer asked the homeowner to have the exterminator contact him. Daniel Schoeneman of A-Tech Pest Control, provided the code enforcement officer with a signed note stating that he has been treating this property for 21 years, including having a rodent bait station near the palm trees

If the property owner has to have an exterminator treating every two months for rats then there is indeed a huge problem. DO YOU OR ANYONE IN TREASURE ISLAND HAVE THEIR PROPERTY TREATED EVERY TWO MONTHS FOR RATS IF THERE IS NOT A HUGE RAT PROBLEM?There are indeed rats in those trees and they have never gone away. You said you were going to have staff inspect for rats. You did not do that, you spoke to the homeowner and a corresponded with her paid contractor.I am waiting for you to inspect for rats and provide photos as you said you would. Email me the last "inspection report" then go and do a real one.
Do you want signed notes from witnesses of the rats?
I look forward to you replying to my questions and a real inspection conducted. This will remain open.

preventative action taken by owner
Reopened Adam1945 (Registered User)
Open, I want to read the report and see how you personally inspected and took photos as you stated you would. Preventative action would be to remove the overgrown dead canopy of the 18 trees not put out rat killer every two months. Do you know anyone that has to put rat killer in there yard every two months if there is not a rat problem. Especially since the owner states they have been doing it for 21 years.
The fact is that there are RATS IN THE TREES and it is not good for tourism and rental properties.
Do you want to state on the Treasure Island web page that "Come on down, we have RATS but if we put out a little rat poison it is good enough for us"

Hi Building Code Enforcement, there are still RATS in the trees. You tried to close this and stated the property owner took "preventative action".
Please let me know what the definition of "preventative" is when there are already RATS and continue to be. "Preventative" means before something or prevent. Not by putting out RAT poison every two months for 21 years when they are already there. Which is not what is going on.
I have requested your second inspection report, you never received that.
I asked your expertise / experience / background on inspecting for RATS. The first time you did the inspection from 15 feet away on the other side of a six foot wooden fence.
I am getting to the point where I may need to explore other options such as entering formal complaints on both Treasure Island employees. You made false statements on here when comparing your language to your report.
I want to live in my property and be on the balcony in the evening without RATS literally being less that 15 ft away in trees that are grossly overgrown and extend well over the property line.
Go do a real inspection by climbing a ladder into the 18 plus trees and look for evidence of RATS.

There are still Rats in the trees. Maybe the City of Treasure Island should use it for tourism. It can be similar to the Aquatarium in Saint Pete Beach from 1964 to 1977.
Or better yet code compliance can follow through on an inspection that they never completed. We are still waiting on an inspection report with photos from Del. Who does he report to?

Why did you block my content seen below for rejections? Is the City of Treasure Island or the administrator of this domain conducting censorship and blocking my 1st Amendment (Freedom of Speech). There was no vulgarity or profanity that would offend anyone! If it is the administrator of this domain blocking my 1st Amendment, then there will be legal issues with the City of Treasure Island or any other tax funded agencies utilizing a domain that is conducting censorship and blocking my 1st Amendment. Repost my original content with a apology.
I explained exactly where they are and no the city did not trim them, she had a tree cutting company. You can drive and see yourself, a photograph is not needed as my description was spot on. Or did you want me to draw a picture? Can I start trimming city property trees without the city's permission? She did. I would think that would be a big no no. So stop closing this issue because this thread is RATS in TREES and there are in fact RATS in the homeowners property line trees and that has not been fixed. That is the name of this domain, fix. If there are RATS in the trees still, why are you closing this?
