I WALK EVERY DAY ON PECK AND BETHMOUR ROAD. THE SITE AT THE END OF BETHMOUR ROAD IS NOT WHAT BETHANY IS ALL ABOUT.
THIS IS A PIG SITE. PLEASE CLEAN IT UP!
I WOULD LIKE A ANSWER FROM OUR FULL TIME FIRST SELECTMAN.WALK DOWN THE END OF BETHMOUR ROAD AND SEE THE MESS. IF THIS IS NOT THE NEW DUMP SITE THEN WHY ARE YOU NOT GETTING IT CLEAN UP?
In order for the first selectman to find out about this message board, someone will have to sign him/her up as a public watcher for Bethany. Unfortunately, I could not find any public email address on the town's website. If anyone has contact info for local gov. officials in Bethany, please sign them up as public watchers. Thanks for your help.
We the people of Bethany, have a part time first Selectman on a full time pay. She does not have time to solve the Bethany Dump Site problem because she is doing photo shoot's in New Haven.
Just drove by the end of Bethmour Road and hit pot hole's and what look's like a ILLEGAL DUMP SITE,
and what look's like a Junk Yard with Green House's .
Who own's this mess and why is nothing been done to clean this up! why is this allowed to happen in Bethany- where is the FIRST SELECTMAN?????
TO-50-YEAR OLD RESIDENT- A PERFECT LOCATION TO START AND END THE PARADE SO OUR SO CALLED LEADERS CAN SEE THE JUNK SITE. TIME FOR A CHANGE AT TOWN HALL.
CLEAN THIS MESS UP AND FIX THE POT HOLE'S.
PLASE.
A watch area was recently made for First Selectwoman Gorski and for Public Works Director Al Green. They are both interested using SeeClickFix to keep in touch with what's going on in the community. Due to technical issues with SeeClickFix and through no fault of the Bethany Town Government, these watch areas were made very recently. Please don't get the impression that they have been following this thread since the beginning but remained unresponsive. They will be receiving any posts and comments in the future, so we ask that you do your best to keep the comments positive and constructive.
Thanks again for working with us to help make your community a better place!
I hope something will be done on this issue. This site is a eye sore to look at and the back area look like a Junk Yard. Also the end of Bethmour Road is
full of pot holes!
I WILL NOT HOLD MY BREATH. WHY WAS THIS MESS ALLOWED TO HAPPEN IN THE FIRST PLACE.
This Junk Yard is right next to the Grade School my son's daughter goes to.
Three weeks have gone bye and nothing is been done about this Dump Site and Pot Hole problem.
The pot holes are getting bigger and the junk yard is growing larger with more junk sited from the road when we drive bye and walk. Maybe our leaders drive only on Peck Road, so they can hide from this mess.
Memorial Day is coming and the whole town should see
what a mess this is. We should start the parade at the dump site and walk over the pot hole's at the same time for the whole town to see this problem.
It has come to my attention via the Community Manager of the “See Click Fix” website that there have been on-line complaints pertaining to a dump site and a pothole, both located on Bethmour Road in Bethany. The “See Click Fix” website, of course, has no connection to the Town of Bethany, and while information contained on the website does reach the Town, it is not though the normal course of business for complaints of this nature. I have listed below the proper contact numbers for people to call to make the Town aware of any issues they may have. By contacting the Town directly, staff and I can get details as to exactly what the issue is and ascertain pertinent facts to determine the quickest and best response. While the original complaints were placed on “See Click Fix” several weeks ago, the Town was not made aware of the complaints until fairly recently. Upon learning of the complaints, we have acted promptly. To date, no complaints pertaining to these items have been made directly to my office or to the Zoning Enforcement Office. After being made aware of the complaints on “See Click Fix”, I took immediate action and drove to the area where the newly created driveway was constructed on Bethmour Road, which is known properly as 93 Peck Road and which is owned by Bioagricultural Enterprises. My inspection revealed a stockpile of debris visible from the road as well as various other items situated further into the property. I directed Zoning Enforcement Officer Isabel Kearns to investigate. ZEO Kearns has met with the property owner, and he proposes to re-locate most items to the rear of the greenhouses by June 30, if not sooner. However, the white, plastic-wrapped bagged soil will remain in the present location. The stockpile of discarded debris set closer to the Bethmour Road will remain until the ground has dried up sufficiently enough to remove it, hopefully also by June 30. The pothole that is being discussed resulted because a curtain drain was not installed when the road was originally constructed, and this is causing subsurface water flow to undermine the integrity of the road. It is not simply a matter of repaving or patching. This drainage work and road repair has been included in the Public Works budget for Fiscal Year 2010-11 and will be done in July. For a faster response to any future complaints please contact me directly at (203) 393-2100 X100 or Zoning Enforcement Officer Isabel Kearns at (203) 393-2100 X135 or Public Works Director Al Green at (203) 393-1555.
Thank You for the response. Let's hope both issues
are fixed. But this open's another problem.
why is a busness like BIOAGRICULTURAL ENTERPRISES allowed in a residential zone area and next to a school. with 18 wheeler trucks going in and out during the week, and is this a "environmental" problem?
As stated in Derrylyn Gorski’s initial reply, all of the items have been relocated to the rear of the greenhouse, except the white plastic-wrapped bagged soil, and the stockpile of discarded debris has been removed. There is a small pile of compost located closer to Bethmour Road. This will be spread in the same vicinity when the weather cools to decrease any unpleasant odor. This case is officially closed. Approximately 200-300 feet of road will be dug up and re-paved between Luke Hill Road and Peck Road after the town crew completes the Wooding Hill Road project.
The Junk is back in front of the greenhouses and more discraded debris. also now we all have to look at large containers, junk cars and trucks. The snow is gone the junk yard is back.
Sorry no town hall leadership here.
Fix the problem and fine Waterfield commerical busness.
It's great to see SeeClickFix being used in the town of Bethany! We think constructive conversation is good, especially when it's directed towards the identification, prioritization, and ultimate resolution of reported issues. That's why it's important to move the conversation forward as opposed to backwards. As a website designed to publicly address community issues, SeeClickFix would also like to emphasize the importance of respect and honesty on this forum. Unfortunately, there has been some abuse of the system on this issue, i.e. people posting under different identities, and it will be archived. If you have any questions, feel free to shoot an email to contact @ seeclickfix.com
