Description

The red curb along the T-shaped intersection of 9th and Willow needs to be reconsidered, because it serves no critical purpose, and parking in the area is very difficult already, especially when street sweeping is going on, two days a week.

The intersection of 8th and Willow, a block up the street is identical and does not have a red curb--you can park the entire length of the intersection on willow street.

I've attached a picture of the area. The red curb extends from the right side of this photo, all the way to the tiny red car on the left. There's enough room to park at least six vehicles.

I do see a fire department stand pipe here, but I've never seen a no-parking zone at a fire hydrant longer than one car length. I also note that there are two gigantic crosswalks, which seem unnecessary for the level of pedestrian traffic at the intersection of two very narrow streets. If you look at eighth, or any similar intersection in the area, you'll see that they do not have this setup. And there is no need for a gigantic crosswalk or for sixty feet of clear curb at that intersection.

The parking spaces would be a lot more useful for this neighborhood.
