Description
Area residents including myself are very concerned about the excessive speeding at the intersection of MLK and 38th Ave N. There have been several accidents in recent weeks and my home was recently damaged by another vehicle accident. We are requesting that the city monitor this area for speeding, install a digital sign to advise motorists of their speed, and lower the speed limit in this area. Please help keep our neighborhood safe. Thank you.

Not sure how to make it safer, but the city would get lots of ticket money generated from this one intersection.

(posted on behalf of Assistant Chief Luke Williams, SPPD) Thank you for your letter to Mayor Rick Kriseman dated January 19, 2016. The Mayor has asked me to respond directly to you regarding the speeding at the intersection of 38th Avenue North and Dr. MLK Street. Selective Enforcement Officer Peters monitored this intersection from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on February 2, 2016. During this time, he issued 12 citations for unlawful speed. The Selective Enforcement Unit conducts traffic enforcement in this area on a regular basis and will continue to do so in the future. If you need further assistance, please feel free to contact Lieutenant Borrelli at 892-5208. Thank you for bringing this concern to our attention.
Sincerely,
Luke C. Williams
