Description

5 parking spots on Rt. 202 between Sussex/Speedwell merge & Flagler St. should be eliminated to improve traffic flow. Use parking behind the buildings.

If you drive into Morristown from Sussex or Speedwell, PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS. The fact that these parking spaces exist where 2 or 3 lanes of traffic, PLUS St. Margaret's parking lot, PLUS the Firehouse, is not in the best interest of the public or Morristown. Pedestrians crossing Speedwell at Flagler are in much greater risk than if there were no parking. Impeding traffic with parking spaces is not "flow control."

Of the five spaces, the most problematic parking space is the one immediately in front of Rago's. When anyone tries to turn left on to Flagler, it is impossible to go around the car attempting the left turn when a car is parked in this spot. A LOT of congestion could be relieved by eliminating just this one parking spot.

Does the Speedwell Redevelopment Plan have any concern with traffic on Speedwell? If so, this issue should be a part of it. Visualize the problem with video monitoring. It will be clear there is a problem.

If ANYONE responsible for this situation uses Sussex to get into Morristown on a regular basis, please feel free to comment as to why this is not able to be changed.

FO2BNJ, I agree that of the 5 spaces the one closest to town is the most problematic, however traffic could move smoothly in two lanes without having to merge to 'get by' the other four.

Here. This doesn't show the back up behind or how long it took to get this point. If the few cars parked at right were somewhere else, traffic would flow smoothly along this 202 corridor.
